Linking geomorphic systems theory and remote sensing : a conceptual approach to Alpine landform detection (Reintal, Bavarian Alps, Germany)

چکیده
Alpine regions are moving into the focus of scientific attention: chapter 13 of Agenda 21 is dedicated to mountains, 2002 was declared «International Year of the Mountain» and German Geographers' Day 2003 was entitled «Alpine World Mountain World: Islands, Bridges, Borders». The sustainable preservation of alpine regions represents a global issue, because a tenth of the world's population lives in mountains, while a multiple indirectly depend on mountain re¬ sources. Geomorphologie activity in alpine regions is significantly greater than in its foreland. Therefore, mountain environments display quick changefulness in time and space (Caine 1974) and react very sensi¬ tively to global change (Kääb 2002).

Performance of complex snow cover descriptions in a distributed hydrological model system: A case study for the high Alpine terrain of the Berchtesgaden Alps
[1] Runoff generation in Alpine regions is typically affected by snow processes. Snow accumulation, storage, redistribution, and ablation control the availability of water. In this study, several robust parameterizations describing snow processes in Alpine environments were implemented in a fully distributed, physically based hydrological model. Snow cover development is simulated using differe...

Theoretical assumptions, research methodologies and results applications of innovative geological and geomorphological mapping for landslide hazard evaluation in the alpine environment are presented in the paper. Case studies from the Italian NW-Alps highlight the role of Geomatics techniques in enhancing the accuracy of multitemporal reconstructions of geomorphic processes and landforms. Aeria...

متن کاملGeomorphic Controls of Spatial Pattern and Process at Alpine Treeline*
This study examines the role of surface geomorphic features in tree establishment at the alpine treeline in Glacier National Park, Montana, through the presentation of a multiscale, conceptual model of biogeomorphic relationships at alpine treeline. Empirical observations gathered through a multiscale field methodology over three summers serve as a base for the model. The model highlights the i...
متن کاملAssessing Geomorphologic Changes of the Mehran River Delta using Remote Sensing and GIS (Bandar Lenga, Hormozgan Province)
Delta areas are dynamic features with changes occurring at many spatial and temporal scales due to catastrophic events. Change detection and providing a fluvial map of changes are the main requirements for environmental and zonal planners in many studies. Geomorphic changes such as temporal and periodic changes in riverbeds are common events in all delta areas. The Mehran river delta is located...
